Horseshoe Beach is a small Gulf Coast fishing village of fewer than 200 residents at the end of County Road 351 in Dixie County, sometimes called “Florida’s Best Kept Secret.”
It’s a working waterfront town with a public marina, boat ramps and a close community of anglers and retirees. Scalloping season brings summer visitors, and many properties are second homes or seasonal rentals.
Many homes are elevated stilt houses built for coastal weather, and after recent hurricanes a lot of residents have been repairing and rebuilding. Those moves often mean long staircases, storage and a move back home later.
