Cedar Key is one of Florida’s most unique and beloved communities, a small island city a few miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, reached only by State Road 24.
With only a few hundred full-time residents, Cedar Key is the definition of Old Florida charm: historic Dock Street, world-class clam farming, and the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge.
Moving here comes with real challenges. There’s one road in and out, crossing small bridges over the salt marsh. Streets are narrow, many homes are older or elevated, and timing matters on busy festival weekends like the Cedar Key Seafood Festival in October and the spring arts festival.
At Old Florida Moving, we plan for all of that: the drive out SR 24 with a loaded trailer, the island’s tight spaces, and the older wood-framed homes that define this community.

Cedar Key is reached only by State Road 24, which runs west from US 19/98 at Otter Creek. The road crosses small bridges over the salt marsh before reaching the island, where streets are narrow and parking is tight.
